Milarepa movie was wonderful and i hope persons who didnt know about the life of mila might got some knowledge about him. i request the director to do the remaining as soon as possible. i also request the director to select a better actors..

I think they plan to shoot in 2009 and it will be done by 2010. and by 2011 it will be able to come to US, IF it gets picked by the Distributors.

one of the finest Tibetan movie made by a "Tibetan" film maker. two thumps up on the movie..only 1 thumb up for the lead actor though..i agree with most of the ppl (excluding samuel gyaltsen for his unnecessary comment) who have commented on his performance..he could've done it better but he shall learn from his mistakes..

The movie is ok, for a frist time director, but who ever the casting director was he did a lousy job.

The main actor the monk from Cup was ok in his earlier film since he was young but now he sucks, no acting, can't speak well.

The director needs to do a better job in casting better Tibetan Actor not monk.

To the comments from the Tibetan with a Christian first name, please refrain from taking commentary to the level of being mean and ungracious. You've made your point about the quality of the lead actor.....it is totally unneccessary to talk about what he should be doing. And by the way, being a carpenter or a mechanic are both honorable and worthy professions.

Yes, good movie but the lead actor sucked. I am not a film maker but i know that the lead actor/actress are the most important in movies since they are the main focus of the film. So, why this terrible mistake of picking him as Milarelpa. Did you guys not test his talents before you hired him?

The lead actor is not a natural actor, he should go back to a vocational school to be a carpenter or mechanics. Honestly, he just isn't born to act.

I found this movie one of the finest Tibetan Movie but at the same time. The lead Actor (Milarepa) was not good at all. He is the weakest point in this Movie as he doesn't really have emotions to show whether it's sad, happiness etc. He only shows one Emotion. so I am looking forward for the new actore in coming movies made by this rinpoche. Two of the films were ok 2 out of 5 stars good start. Try to make a better production quality films otherwise we might become a laughing stock. Specially by the Chinese.

Hey, have you seen Ha Ha He He from these guys, Yes my 65 year old aunt can also make it.

The worst thing about living where I live is I never get to see any of the Tibetan Movies until after Its been released on VCD/DVD. I've always admired (loved) TIPA's Tenzin Younten and Tenzin Woebum, so therefore, I can't wait to see this movie. I hope the day comes soon. Om Mani Padme HooN! *wink!

the movie is good according to our Tibetan situation right now. you can't ask too much from these new Tibetan film makers right now because we are a lil far behind from other independent countries but we are catching up and getting there..just need some time..and i suggest you negative opinion givers to be a lil bit more patient...this movie overall has a great moral from the story and very entertaining in terms of humor level ..i felt like i was in the movie the whole time because the way the actors spoke were very normal like we Tibetans talk on our daily basis...peace...and love...t..xyz

Easier said than done, i wish you knew how much time and money it takes to make, even a simple film. Point and Shoot, i wish it was that simple too. Unfortunately its not. so good luck with your movie KALSANG, along with your 65 years old aunt. Good luck to both of you.

There is no excuse in making a good film. Just making a film for the seak of making a film is not a good film or filmmaker.
What the hell is with the "HA He He" even my 65 year old aunt said she can make better then that, just point the camera and shoot.
No more last movie I will ever see from these guys.

This is definitely the only Tibetan movie out there that tells the story of the Tibetans in exile. It is not only educational, but also very entertaining and realistic. I feel that the other Tibetan movies do not connect to the real situations in India. They are all stereotypical.

So far, this is the best movie I've seen. Good job guys, and keep up the good work. You are all role models for our younger generations.

"Dreaming Lhasa" is a superbly produced dramatic feature film set in the refugee community in India comprised of exiled Tibetans who fled the Chinese communist take-over of their native country. In "Dreaming Lhasa", veteran filmmakers, Ritu Sarin and Tenzing Sonam have created a compelling story of a generation of men and women born into refugees families and who have never seen the country of their parents' origin. This is the story of Tibetan filmmaker Karma traveling from New York to Dharamsala (the Dali Lama's exile headquarters in northern India) to interview political prisoners who have escaped from Tibet. There she meets Dhondup, an enigmatic ex-monk who has come to India to fulfill his dying mother's last wish -- to deliver a charm box to a long-missing resistance fighter. Soon karma finds herself caught up in his quest, which becomes both a journey into Tibet's fractured past and a voyage of self-discovery. "Dreaming Lhasa" is played out in spectacular settings and features compelling images of people and places largely unknown to American audiences. i really enjoyed this film and to think that only one professional actor was used is amazing-the lead actress isn't even an actress-she's a banker of all things-the film illuminated a real issue-the situation of Tibetan refugees- and it did so in a non-preachy way-it was in the context of a mystery/romance/semi documentary which did not come across as the usual patronizing view of Buddhists as nice little pacifists(they aren't)-the Chinese weren't demonized as people -just the communist regime,which is really evil and always has been-this film was definitely a "watch again" effort that is well worth purchasing
